Founded in 1989, Gallifrey One may now be the largest & most popular Doctor Who in North America (and arguably one of the largest in the world, aside from one-off official BBC events like the Doctor Who 50th Celebration), but it maintains a strong sense of community and intimacy. Capped at roughly 3,200 attendees, Gally features a small but robust Dealers Room as well as several programming tracks featuring a range of topics – including not only the official Doctor Who properties (i.e. the TV show, audio dramas, comic books, and novels), but also costuming, toys & collectibles, and other aspects of sci-fi culture. But the heart and soul of Gally are its welcoming attendees and exuberant all-volunteer staff, who provide this con with an incredible energy – featuring cosplay, ribbon exchanges, pre-event gatherings dubbed LobbyCon, and plenty more unofficial traditions.
